Note: this north photographic of the model shows how imposing the top floor are over the leve of 18 W. 70 to the right. Apparently, in response to objections about the lack of perspective, the architects provided the perspective below - but they chose a point of view way down the street so as to not show the complete impact of the building, and the impact overshadowing the synagogue. A better perspective would be directly across the street, for example, from in from of the famous violinist's buidling at 21 W. 70th Street
